About

Navigation Campground occupies a scenic position on the northwest shore of Upper Priest Lake, part of the protected Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The campground offers four primitive sites, each furnished with a fire ring, picnic table, and bear-proof storage box. Majestic views of the Selkirk Crest provide a dramatic backdrop for this backcountry camping experience. Access to Navigation Campground requires either boating up Upper Priest Lake or hiking the Navigation Trail. There is no road access to Upper Priest Lake. The designated camping season runs from June through September, though the area may be physically accessible outside these dates. Campers should bring all drinking water as none is available on site. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out campground with no trash service. Bear-proof food storage is mandatory under the Idaho Panhandle Seasonal Food Storage Order, which runs April through December annually. The remote setting rewards visitors with solitude, excellent birding opportunities, and access to pristine wilderness.
