Navigation Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates from June through September. Accessible only by boat or the Navigation Trail.

About

Navigation Campground is located on the northwest shores of Upper Priest Lake within the Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. This remote backcountry campground offers four campsites with stunning views of the Selkirk Crest mountains. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and bear-proof storage box. A vault toilet is available on-site, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own. The campground is accessible only by boat from Priest Lake via the Thoroughfare, or by hiking the Navigation Trail approximately 8 miles from the trailhead. This isolation provides a true wilderness camping experience in old-growth hemlock and white pine forests. The area is popular for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Navigation Campground operates under a Pack It In, Pack It Out policy for all garbage. Campsites must be occupied the first night and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The remote location and limited access make this an ideal destination for experienced backcountry campers seeking solitude and pristine natural surroundings.
