About

Nancy Lake State Recreation Site sits on the shores of Nancy Lake in Alaska's Matanuska-Susitna Valley, approximately 90 minutes north of Anchorage. The 36-acre facility offers 30 campsites accommodating both tent campers and RVs with no posted size restrictions. Amenities include pit toilets, hand-pump drinking water, a picnic shelter, and a boat launch providing access to the lake for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. The campground serves as a convenient access point to the larger 22,685-acre Nancy Lake State Recreation Area, which features an extensive canoe trail system connecting over a dozen lakes. Activities available in the area include camping, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and winter pursuits like cross-country skiing and dog mushing. Public-use cabins are available nearby on Red Shirt, Lynx, Nancy, James, and Bald lakes for those seeking more rustic overnight accommodations. The site features accessible facilities including ADA-compliant campsites, parking, grills, picnic areas, and a fishing dock. Firewood may be purchased on-site, though campers are encouraged to bring their own. The maximum camping stay is 15 days.
