About

Finger Lake State Recreation Site encompasses 69 acres and provides a peaceful camping experience between the cities of Palmer and Wasilla in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The campground features 24 campsites split between an RV loop (35 ft limit) and tent loop (20 ft limit), along with 2 group camping areas and 25 picnic sites. The recreation site serves as a gateway to Finger Lake, offering excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, arctic char, and grayling, with winter ice fishing also popular. The campground includes accessible toilets, potable water, and a boat launch facility. A limited number of campsites can be reserved through ReserveAmerica.com from June 1 through August 31, while several sites remain available on a first-come, first-served basis. The site also houses the Alaska State Parks Headquarters for the entire Matanuska-Susitna-Copper Basin Area. Boaters should be aware that the Mat-Su Borough enforces special motorized use restrictions requiring mufflers, cowlings, and exhaust systems on motors. Motor operation is prohibited from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and no-wake zones are in effect within 100 feet of the shoreline. Paddle craft rentals and tours are available nearby. Campers must bring their own firewood and are limited to 7 consecutive days.

From Anchorage/Palmer: South on Glenn Highway to Parks Highway, right on Trunk Road, left through roundabout to E Bogard Road, entrance on left at mile 0.7. From Wasilla: South on Parks Highway, left onto Palmer-Wasilla Highway, left onto Seward Meridian Road, right onto E Bogard Road, right again onto E Bogard Road, entrance on right.
