Finger Lake State Recreation Site encompasses 69 acres of peaceful lakeside terrain in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, situated just 0.7 miles west of the Trunk Road/Bogard Road intersection. The campground provides a tranquil escape between the cities of Palmer and Wasilla, offering 24 individual campsites and 2 group camping areas that can accommodate both tent campers and RVs up to 54 feet on select sites. The recreation site features vault toilets with wheelchair accessibility, seasonal drinking water from hand pumps, and a boat launch with beach access. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, though campers must bring their own firewood. Finger Lake provides excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, Arctic char, and grayling, with winter ice fishing access as well. Paddle craft rentals and classes are available through local outfitters. Motorized boat use is regulated with muffler requirements, no-wake zones within 100 feet of shoreline, and motor operation prohibited between 11 PM and 8 AM. The campground offers both reservable sites through ReserveAmerica and first-come, first-served options, with a maximum stay of 7 nights per 30-day period.

Directions

From Wasilla, take Bogard Road east to the campground entrance on the right, 0.7 miles west of the Trunk Road/Bogard Road intersection. From Palmer, travel west on Palmer-Wasilla Highway to Trunk Road, turn south, then west on Bogard Road to the campground.
