About

Mutual Mine Campground is located within the Mutual Mine Recreation Area, part of the 50,000-acre Citrus Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest in Citrus County, Florida. The campground features 13 campsites arranged in a horseshoe configuration around a scenic lake that formed in an old phosphate mine pit. Each site is equipped with potable water, a picnic table, and a fire ring with grate and/or grill. The campground provides basic but comfortable amenities including a centrally located restroom facility with showers. Sites accommodate either one RV and one tent or up to three tents, with equipment lengths ranging from 25 to 40 feet depending on the specific site. Fishing is allowed in the lake, and hikers can access trails in the surrounding state forest. The area is managed by the Florida Forest Service, and campers should be aware that hunting is prohibited within the campground and improved day-use areas. During hunting seasons, wearing blaze orange is recommended when venturing into the forest. Check for prescribed burn notices and drought conditions before visiting.
