About

Citrus Tract Primitive Camp Zone Loop C offers a true backcountry camping experience in the Citrus Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest. This hike-in only destination is accessed via the Citrus Hiking Trail from either the Holder Mine or Mutual Mine trailheads, with the camp zone located 4-6 miles in depending on your starting point. The designated camping area is marked by yellow bands painted on trees. This is primitive camping with no amenities. There is no potable water and no restrooms. Some spots within the zone may have a fire ring or picnic table, but these are not guaranteed. Visitors should be self-sufficient and prepared for backcountry conditions. The area operates as a Wildlife Management Area with active hunting seasons. Hikers are strongly advised to wear 500 square inches of blaze orange during hunting periods. Prescribed burns occur frequently in this forest; contact the Withlacoochee dispatch at 352-797-4100 before each day of your outing to verify burn activity. Chainsaw use is prohibited.

GPS coordinates: 28.76333, -82.43861. Access via Holder Mine Trailhead or Mutual Mine Trailhead, both located southwest of Inverness. The camp zone is a 4-6 mile hike in depending on the trailhead used.
