Holder Mine Hunt Camp is a primitive camping facility located in the Citrus Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest, approximately 15 minutes south of Inverness, Florida. This hunt camp operates within the Citrus Wildlife Management Area and is exclusively restricted to licensed hunters who must provide proof of a current hunting license or management stamp to reserve a campsite. The facility includes 113 primitive hunt camp sites, each accommodating up to 15 people with equipment lengths up to 37 feet. Campers can use tents, trailers, or self-propelled camping vehicles within designated site boundaries. The campground offers limited amenities consistent with its primitive designation, including limited potable water access and portable toilets placed during hunting seasons. Reservations are made through the Florida State Forests Reserve America system up to 11 months in advance. Each individual or household is limited to two hunt camp sites per season, with only one campsite per reservation. Site maintenance and mowing are the responsibility of the hunt camp holder, and all equipment must remain within defined site boundaries. Access to the hunt camp is via C-581 Pleasant Grove Road and Forest Road Trail 10. Two-wheel drive vehicles and those towing should only access the campground from this route. The camp is located in an active wildlife management area where hunting is permitted during designated seasons, so visitors should be aware of hunting activity. Generators must be shut down between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am, and firearms discharge is prohibited on, from, or across campsites. The facility is managed by the Florida Forest Service and may close during tropical storm or hurricane warnings.

Directions

Via I-75: Take Exit 329 SR 44 towards Inverness. Continue west to C-581 Pleasant Grove Road at traffic light. Travel south on C-581 approximately 3 miles to FR Trail 10. Turn right and entrance is approximately 2 miles on right. Via Suncoast Parkway: Take SR-589 north to US Hwy 98, bear right southeast approximately 3.5 miles to C-491 Lecanto Hwy. Turn left on C-491 and continue to C-480 Stage Coach Trail, turn right. Continue to C-581, turn left and travel approximately 8.5 miles to FR Trail 10. Turn left and continue approximately 2 miles to campground. Two-wheel drive vehicles should only access from C-581 Pleasant Grove Road and FR Trail 10.
