About

Father Hennepin State Park Campground is located on the southeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota. The park's 320 acres feature 103 drive-in campsites divided between two campground areas. Lakeview Campground offers 62 sites, 41 with electric hookups, and is closer to the lake. Maple Grove Campground provides 41 sites in a more wooded setting without electrical hookups. Both campgrounds are relatively open compared to heavily forested campgrounds, with good breezes and visibility. The campground caters to both tent campers and RVs, with 50-amp electric hookups available at select sites. Modern amenities include restrooms with showers, a dump station for RVs, and potable water. No sites offer water or sewer hookups at individual campsites. The park features a large sandy beach with swimming area, fishing piers, two boat launches, and picnic areas with panoramic lake views. Hiking trails wind through hardwood forests of sugar maples and oaks along the rocky shoreline, with opportunities to spot wildlife including the park's rare albino whitetail deer. Visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on trails during winter months, though campground facilities are closed seasonally.
