Total snow and sleet accumulations between 3 and 5 inches except between 4 and 6 inches for the higher terrain of the North Shore and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Pine and Carlton and South St. Louis Counties. In Wisconsin, Douglas County. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band and the Mille Lacs Band, Hinckley and, Lena Lake areas. * WHEN...From 1 AM Thursday to 7 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Worst conditions will be closer to Lake Superior as strong winds off of the Lake will lead to higher snow totals and greater reductions in visibilities. The majority of the snowfall is expected to fall during the daytime hours. With the high sun angle and temperatures hovering just above freezing, snowfall will have a difficult time accumulating on warm surfaces leading to a slushy mess.

Jay Cooke State Park Group Campground is located within one of Minnesota's most visited state parks, approximately 10 miles southwest of Duluth. The park protects the lower reaches of the St. Louis River and features dramatic rocky gorges, historic sites including a pioneer cemetery, and the iconic swinging bridge. The group campground provides a wooded camping experience for organized groups seeking to explore the park's extensive trail network. The park offers over 50 miles of hiking trails, 32 miles of cross-country ski trails, and connections to the Willard Munger State Trail, making it a destination for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and cross-country skiers. The St. Louis River's rocky gorges and rapids provide stunning scenery year-round, with particularly vivid displays during spring wildflower season and fall color season. The group campground operates year-round with reservations required. Winter camping is available with limited facilities, as shower buildings and some amenities are seasonal. The park's camper cabins remain available year-round for those seeking heated accommodations. Reservations are made through the Minnesota State Parks reservation system.
