About

Jay Cooke State Park Campground sits within one of Minnesota's most striking natural landscapes, where the St. Louis River tumbles over tilted slate and graywacke rock formations. The 83-site campground accommodates tent campers and RVs alike, with 21 sites offering electric hookups (20, 30, or 50 amp service). Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and parking spur. The campground features modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers during the peak season from May through October, along with potable water and a dump station. The park spans over 8,000 acres and offers more than 50 miles of recreation trails, including connections to the 70-mile paved Willard Munger State Trail. The iconic swinging suspension bridge crosses high above the river gorge, providing stunning views of the cascading waters below. Wildlife is abundant, with 185 documented bird species and diverse forest habitats. Winter camping is available with 12 sites remaining open (5 with electric hookups). During winter months, amenities shift to vault toilets and a frost-proof water spigot, while showers and the dump station close. Five year-round camper cabins with electricity and heat offer an alternative for cold-weather visitors.
