About
Banning State Park's camper cabin offers a comfortable alternative to traditional camping while still providing an authentic outdoor experience. The heated log cabin is located in the southwestern corner of the park's wooded campground, just minutes off I-35 near Sandstone. Sleeping up to five people, this ADA-accessible cabin features electricity, beds, a dining table, and a screened porch, though it does not include plumbing. The cabin is situated approximately 275 feet from the campground's restroom and shower facilities, providing convenient access to modern amenities. Each cabin rental includes a fire ring and picnic table, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor cooking and gathering. The cabin's heated interior makes it an excellent option for year-round stays, particularly during Minnesota's cold winter months when traditional tent camping is less appealing. From the cabin, guests can easily access Banning State Park's extensive trail system and dramatic Kettle River gorge. In spring, the river's rapids offer exciting whitewater opportunities at named features like Hell's Gate and Dragon's Tooth. Summer and fall bring excellent hiking conditions along the river's edge, while winter transforms the park into a destination for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Note that pets are not allowed in camper cabins, only service animals are permitted.
Directions
