Banning State Park Camper Cabin

Open

The camper cabin is open for the season. Reservations are available up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. The cabin operates seasonally with primitive toilets available year-round; showers and potable water at the nearby campground are seasonal.

About

Banning State Park's camper cabin provides a rustic overnight experience along Minnesota's Kettle River, known for some of the state's most challenging whitewater. The accessible seasonal cabin is a 12x16-foot wooden structure equipped with a full-size bed, three twin beds, table, benches, electricity, and heat. A screened porch offers bug-free relaxation, while an outdoor picnic table and fire ring with grate allow for campfire cooking. The cabin lacks indoor plumbing, but the adjacent campground provides seasonal restrooms, showers, and potable water. Primitive toilets are available year-round. Indoor cooking is restricted to crockpots and coffeepots; all other food prep must be done outdoors. Only approved firewood may be burned. Banning State Park spans the entire length of the Kettle River within its boundaries, offering hiking trails through historic sandstone quarries, accessible overlooks, and a paved bike trail. The park is located just minutes off I-35 near Sandstone, making it easily accessible for a weekend getaway.
