About

Mount Rose Campground occupies a prime location on the western slope of Mount Rose at an elevation of 9,300 feet, positioned conveniently between Reno and Lake Tahoe along scenic Mount Rose Highway (SR 431). The campground sits within a pleasant forest of lodgepole pine, Jeffrey pine, white pine, and red fir that provides shade to most sites. The campground contains 26 sites including single-family, double-family, and one triple-family site, with six sites designated for tent camping only. All sites feature picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and food storage lockers required due to active black bears in the area. Roads and parking spurs are paved throughout. Hiking is the primary draw, with several trails accessible nearby including Tahoe Meadows Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail, Mount Rose Wilderness Trail, and Mount Rose Summit Trail. Lake Tahoe is less than 30 minutes away, offering boating, kayaking, fishing, and scenic driving opportunities.

Directions

From Highway 395 south of Reno, travel 17 miles west on State Route 431 (Mount Rose Highway). The campground is on the left side of the highway. From Highway 28 outside Incline Village, turn east on Mount Rose Highway 431 and travel 5 miles uphill to the campground entrance on the right.
