About

Washoe Lake State Park's Group Use Campground is situated in the park's main equestrian area, nestled in scenic Washoe Valley between Reno and Carson City. This large group facility can accommodate up to 200 people and is designed to serve both equestrian and general group camping needs. The campground features a covered barbecue pavilion equipped with picnic tables, grills, sink, counter space, power, water and lighting, making it ideal for group gatherings. The equestrian facilities include an arena, corrals, and a horse washing station, making this an excellent base for horseback riding groups. Both tent and RV camping are permitted, with expansive parking areas that provide easy access for horse trailers and large vehicles. The site's location offers breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada, Carson and Virginia mountain ranges. The park itself provides diverse recreational opportunities including trails for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use, as well as boat launches for accessing Washoe Lake. Wildlife viewing is exceptional, with bald eagles, American white pelicans, and Canada geese frequenting the area. The group campground includes restroom facilities and is part of a state park that operates year-round, offering convenient access to both outdoor adventure and nearby amenities in the Reno-Carson City corridor.
