About

Washoe Lake State Park Campground is nestled in Washoe Valley between Reno and Carson City, offering 49 campsites with stunning views of the Sierra Nevada, Carson, and Virginia mountain ranges. The campground is divided into two loops: Loop A features 24 sites with water and utility hookups, while Loop B offers 25 sites without hookups and operates seasonally. Each site includes a table, grill, and fire ring, with some sites equipped with shade structures. Several sites can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet in length. Two comfort stations serve the campground, one with a shower, and a dump station is available for RV users. The park encompasses 8,053 acres and provides diverse recreational opportunities including fishing for channel catfish, bullhead catfish, wipers, white bass, and Sacramento perch. Multiple boat launch ramps provide access to Washoe Lake and Little Washoe. An extensive trail system accommodates hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrian riders, with motorized trails available in the Virginia Range. The park features dedicated equestrian areas with corrals, an arena, and horse washing stations. Birdwatchers can observe American white pelicans, Canada geese, bald eagles, and other waterfowl in the park's wetland areas, which provide critical habitat for migratory birds.
