About

Mosquito Flat Reservoir Campground is a no-fee primitive campground situated along the scenic shore of Mosquito Flat Reservoir in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The campground offers 11 campsites plus a day-use picnic area, with each site equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. The reservoir is a popular destination for anglers, offering trout fishing via wading, shore fishing, float tube, or small watercraft. Motorized boaters and kayakers frequent the area during summer months. The nearby Yankee Fork Trail (#147) provides access to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, making this an excellent basecamp for backcountry exploration. The campground accommodates motorhomes and trailers up to 32 feet in length. Access is via Forest Road 070 (Custer Motorway) and Forest Road 091, which are unpaved. The campground typically opens June 1 and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations.
