About
Located 15 miles northwest of Challis in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Mosquito Flat Reservoir Campground sits at the shore of a popular 49-acre fishing reservoir. The campground offers 11 campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, accommodating RVs and trailers up to 32 feet in length. The reservoir is regularly stocked with rainbow trout and kokanee, and features a Forest Service boat ramp for easy water access. Nearby, the Yankee Fork Trail (#147) provides access into the legendary Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, offering opportunities for backcountry hiking and exploration. The campground is accessed via the scenic Custer Motorway and Pine Summit Road, traveling through the historic mining country of central Idaho. Anglers can enjoy wade fishing, shore fishing, float tube fishing, and both fly and spin fishing techniques. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Campers should come prepared with their own drinking water and pack out all trash, as no water or garbage services are provided on-site. Vault toilets are available.
