About

West Fork Morgan Creek Campground is an extremely remote, single-site primitive campground located in the Salmon-Challis National Forest in central Idaho. The campground serves primarily as a staging area for those seeking to explore the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower 48 states. The site offers basic amenities including a picnic table, fire ring, and vault toilet. Campers must be fully self-sufficient as there is no potable water available and all trash must be packed out. There is no fee to camp here. Access requires navigating approximately 17 miles of forest roads from Highway 93 near Challis. The remote location and primitive nature of this campground make it best suited for experienced campers with high-clearance vehicles who are prepared for backcountry conditions.

Directions

From Challis, travel north on Highway 93 approximately 7 miles to Morgan Creek Road (055).
