About

Whiskey Flat Campground is a small, intimate campground with just 4 single sites located along the Salmon River in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. The campground is particularly popular with anglers seeking excellent steelhead and trout fishing in the Salmon River and nearby creeks. The location offers tremendous wildlife viewing and scenic beauty between the Salmon-Challis National Forest and the White Clouds Wilderness Area. Several creeks in the area provide additional fishing opportunities. Torreys Hole boat launch is located just west along Highway 75. For hikers and backpackers, a forest service road leads south into the White Clouds Wilderness Area along Slate Creek, passing Sheephead Creek, Silver Rule Creek, and Last Chance Creek before reaching a trail to Hoodoo Lake. The campground has vault toilets and picnic tables at each site, but no potable water is available. Campers must bring their own water. The 10-day occupancy limit within a 30-day period applies within a 30-mile radius throughout SNRA. Pets must be leashed, and motorized vehicles and bicycles are prohibited in designated wilderness areas.
