* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf expected. * WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches. * WHEN...Through Tuesday afternoon, peaking Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest surf will be focused across south facing beaches due to a southerly swell produced by Tropical Storm Elida. Additional Beach Hazards Statements or High Surf Advisories will likely be needed through the rest of the week due to a series of incoming southerly swells.

About

Morro Strand State Beach Campground occupies a prime stretch of California coastline along Estero Bay, providing unobstructed views of iconic Morro Rock and the Pacific Ocean. The campground offers over 70 sites spread along the beach, accommodating both tent campers and RVs. Sites with electric and water hookups can handle motorhomes up to 40 feet, while non-hookup sites accommodate vehicles up to 24 feet. Every campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table, with flush toilets and drinking water available throughout the campground. Token-operated showers and an RV dump station are accessible at nearby Morro Bay State Park Campground with proof of registration. The beach offers excellent conditions for surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, and fishing, while the estuary provides outstanding bird watching opportunities. The charming coastal town of Morro Bay lies 3 miles south with full services including gas, groceries, and dining. Cayucos, 3 miles north, offers additional restaurants and shops. Dogs are permitted in the campground on leash but are prohibited on the beach itself. Reservations are available through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance.
