About

North Beach Campground at Pismo State Beach provides a classic California coastal camping experience on the Central Coast. Located between Highway 1 and the Pacific Ocean in San Luis Obispo County, campers enjoy direct beach access and scenic views along Carpenter Creek. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the Pismo Beach area, including the renowned Monarch Butterfly Grove where thousands of butterflies overwinter from November through February. The campground offers tent camping facilities and accommodates self-contained RVs, though no hookup sites are available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities include restrooms with pay-operated hot showers, drinking water, and an RV dump station at the campground entrance. During summer months, the park offers Junior Ranger programs and campfire programs. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash no longer than six feet. Reservations are made through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance, with a minimum 48-hour advance booking required. Check-in is at 2 PM and check-out is at noon. Each site allows a maximum of two licensed vehicles.
