About

Moore Lake Campground is a small, primitive Forest Service campground located at a scenic 14-acre glacial cirque lake in the Superior Ranger District of Lolo National Forest. Situated at 5,310 feet elevation in the South Fork Little Joe Creek drainage near the Montana-Idaho border, the campground offers a semi-remote backcountry atmosphere while remaining vehicle-accessible via forest roads. The campground provides 4 basic sites suitable for tents and small camping units up to 15 feet in length. A vault toilet is available on site. The lake supports a self-sustaining brook trout population, making it a destination for anglers seeking solitude. Surrounding forested slopes typical of the Northern Rockies provide hiking opportunities. Camping operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Due to the high elevation, access is seasonal and dependent on road conditions. Campers should practice Leave No Trace principles and come prepared for primitive conditions without potable water or other developed amenities.

Directions

From I-90, take Exit 33 at St. Regis. Take Forest Road 282 for approximately 2.25 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 221 and continue approximately 8 miles to the campground.
