About
Line Creek Stock Camp sits alongside the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River at 3,800 feet elevation, 87 miles from St. Maries via Forest Highway 50. This campground is purpose-built for equestrian use, featuring 7 pull-through camping units with fire rings, feed bunks at six sites, highline poles at two sites, and one corral. Stock water is available directly from the river.
The terrain offers exceptional riding opportunities with access to over 100 miles of non-motorized trails and 60 miles of multiple-use trails. The St. Joe River Trail #48 runs 18 miles along the river to Heller Campground. Additional trails accessible from camp include Indian Peak #284, Copper Creek #477, Copper Ridge #263, and Line Creek #279. The area is also popular for big game hunting in season.
The historic Red Ives Ranger Station and museum is located one mile downstream. Catch-and-release fishing is available in the wild trout waters of the upper St. Joe River, and there is a day-use area with a swimming hole and small beach. The gateway town of Avery is about 40 miles downstream with a small store, gas, and basic amenities.
