About

Beaver Creek Campground is a small, primitive Forest Service campground situated along the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Located approximately 29 miles east of Avery on the St. Joe River Road, then 8 miles up Red Ives Road 218, this remote facility offers just two campsites suitable for tents, small campers, or small trailers. The campground features basic amenities with a vault toilet and provides free camping with no reservation system. The St. Joe River region is known for its blue-ribbon cutthroat trout streams and extensive roadless areas in the Bitterroot Mountains. The campground serves as a quiet base for fishing, hiking, and exploring the Wild and Scenic River corridor. Red Ives Road 218 provides access to the upper St. Joe area, connecting to trails and backcountry opportunities including the unroaded wild segment of the river. Due to its remote location and primitive nature, campers should come prepared with their own water, firewood, and supplies. The area offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and solitude in one of Idaho's most scenic river valleys.
