About

Minneiska Campground is the primary camping area at Whitewater State Park, built in 2017 to replace an older campground that experienced recurring flood damage. The modern facility features 41 drive-in sites with electric hookups (sites 200-241), 4 walk-in tent sites, 4 camper cabins, and 3 group camps. A 40 kW solar array helps offset energy use at the campground. The campground includes modern restroom buildings with flush toilets and fee-based hot showers. Drinking water is available on site, and a dump station operates from mid-April through October. Each of the three group camps has its own picnic shelter and shares access to the modern restroom facility. The park sells firewood and ice, and a visitor center and amphitheater are nearby. Whitewater State Park occupies a valley carved by the Whitewater River, featuring dramatic limestone bluffs and diverse hardwood forests. The park offers over 10 miles of hiking trails, trout fishing, and excellent wildlife viewing. The campground's location on higher ground protects it from the flooding that affected the previous camping area.
