About

Merrick State Park Campground sits along the scenic backwaters of the Mississippi River in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. The park's three distinct camping areas offer different experiences: the North Campground provides the most amenities with 22 electric sites and a modern shower building, the South Campground places campers directly on Fountain City Bay with 28 waterfront sites ideal for boating and fishing, and the Island Campground offers a more primitive walk-in tent camping experience with pit toilets and a log shelter. Registered campers may moor boats overnight at each campground, and several sites in the island and south campgrounds feature direct river access for mooring watercraft or fishing from your site. The park includes three miles of hiking trails, two boat launches, and picnic areas. Firewood is available for purchase at the contact station, park office, or campsite #11 in the north campground. Note that in years when the Mississippi River floods, the South Campground closes until water levels recede. The park enforces Wisconsin's firewood restrictions to prevent the spread of tree pests and diseases.
