Cedar Hill Campground occupies one of the most scenic settings in Minnesota's state park system, nestled within Whitewater State Park's 2,700 acres of towering dolomite cliffs and deep ravines carved by the Whitewater River. The campground provides 75 sites, including 47 with electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), 5 pull-through sites for larger rigs, and 4 tent-only sites. Many campsites sit directly along the river, offering the ambient sound of flowing water. Whitewater State Park is renowned as an angler's paradise, with brown, brook, and rainbow trout swimming in the spring-fed Whitewater River and Trout Run Creek. Beyond fishing, visitors enjoy a sandy swimming beach, hiking trails ranging from easy riverside strolls to challenging bluff climbs with scenic overlooks, and a year-round visitor center with exhibits on local natural and human history. The park is notably low in mosquitoes due to the lack of standing water. The campground features modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station operational from mid-April through October. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and tent or RV pad. A playground provides entertainment for younger campers. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available in winter, though the campground gates close during winter months.
