About

Cedar Hill Campground sits within the 2,700-acre Whitewater State Park in southeast Minnesota's distinctive bluffland terrain. The campground is surrounded by 200-foot dolomite cliffs and deep ravines carved by the Whitewater River. Anglers can fish for brown, brook, and rainbow trout in the park's spring-fed waterways, while hikers can explore trails ranging from easy to challenging with multiple scenic overlooks. The park offers a sandy swimming beach open seasonally and a year-round visitor center with exhibits on local natural and human history. The campground features both drive-in and electric sites, with some sites accessible by pull-through access and wheelchair-accessible options. During warmer months, the campground serves as a base for exploring the unique ecology of southeastern Minnesota, including opportunities to observe cliff swallows and belted kingfishers along the sandstone banks. The area is known for its absence of mosquitoes and excellent fall color viewing. Winter activities in the park include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, though the Cedar Hill Campground gates close during winter months.
