About

Carley State Park Group Campground provides primitive group camping in one of southeastern Minnesota's quieter state parks. Located in Wabasha County near Plainview and Altura, the park sits along the North Branch of the Whitewater River, a designated trout stream supporting brown trout. The group camping areas are set apart from the main campground in remote, wooded locations that offer privacy and a true wilderness feel. Two group sites are available: GC1 with capacity for 20 people and GC2 for 15 people. Each site comes equipped with multiple picnic tables, a fire ring with grill, and ample tent space. Vault toilets are located nearby. There are no showers, flush toilets, or hookups at the group camp areas. Campers should bring their own drinking water or be prepared to treat water. The park features approximately 6 miles of hiking trails following the river valley, with opportunities to observe glacial remnant plant species on north-facing cliffs. The surrounding bluff country landscape makes this an appealing destination for groups seeking a quiet retreat in a scenic natural setting.
