Great River Bluffs State Park Bike-in Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. Camping operates March through October.

About

Great River Bluffs State Park's bike-in campground is a unique facility located at the base of the bluffs along Highway 61, the Great River Road. The campground features 5 primitive sites designed specifically for cyclists touring through the Mississippi River Valley. Unlike the main drive-in campground situated high on the bluffs, these bike-in sites are positioned to provide easy access for bicycle travelers following the scenic Great River Road route. The sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are part of the park's diverse camping options, which also include drive-in RV sites and cart-in tent sites. While primitive in nature, the bike-in campground allows cyclists to experience the beautiful bluff country and oak-hickory woods that characterize this region. The park itself preserves steep-sided bluffs rising 500 feet above the Mississippi River and contains Scientific and Natural Areas. The bike-in campground provides a convenient stopover for cyclists exploring the Great River Road, with access to the park's scenic overlooks, hiking trails, and excellent birdwatching opportunities in the river valley flyway. The location offers a quieter alternative to the main campground while still providing proximity to the park's natural attractions.

Directions

Access the bike-in sites from Highway 61 at mile marker 12. Look for the designated signs indicating the entrance to the bike-in campground.
