About

The historic Meadows Guard Station sits in a shady, wooded setting in the Greys River valley, with Meadow Creek running alongside. Built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this two-room cabin offers a quiet retreat beneath tall pines where deer graze in the nearby meadow. The cabin sleeps six people on three sets of bunk beds with mattresses and features propane lights, a cooktop, refrigerator, and a wood stove for heat. No electricity is available. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, guests have access to indoor running water, a flush toilet, and a shower. During winter months, facilities are limited to an outdoor toilet and visitors must bring their own water. Firewood is provided for the wood stove. The cabin allows horses with corrals available, though horses cannot be turned out into the pasture. The area provides year-round recreation including fishing in the nearby Greys River, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and OHV riding in summer, with snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in winter. A popular trailhead departs just outside the station. Wildlife viewing opportunities include moose, elk, eagles, and sandhill cranes. Winter access is by snowmobile only on groomed trails.
