About

McGee Creek State Park sits along McGee Creek Reservoir in the Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma. The park provides a scenic escape with over 8,900 acres of lake and surrounding wilderness. Two main developed campgrounds serve overnight visitors: Buster Hight Area features paved sites with water and electric hookups, a four-lane boat ramp, comfort stations with showers, a dump station, fishing pier, playground, and swim beach. Potapo Area offers paved RV sites with water and electric service, a comfort station with showers, and a two-lane boat ramp. Primitive camping sites are scattered throughout both areas for tent campers seeking a more rustic experience. The park also features eight lake huts near Potapo Campground, which include back porches overlooking the lake, bunk beds, fireplaces, air conditioning, water service, and outdoor barbecue grills. Linens are not provided in the huts. The reservoir supports excellent fishing for bass, catfish, and crappie, while the surrounding McGee Creek Natural Scenic Recreation Area offers hiking trails through undeveloped wilderness. All campsite reservations are made online through the Oklahoma State Parks reservation system.
