About
McClendon Spring Campground sits in the Cotterel Mountains of south-central Idaho, managed by the BLM Burley Field Office. The site holds historical significance as a favored resting spot for emigrants traveling the California Trail during westward expansion. Today it serves as a base for exploring the surrounding public lands. The semi-developed campground offers primitive camping with minimal facilities. Activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting for upland birds and deer. OHV use is permitted in designated areas. The remote location provides mountain views overlooking the Malta valley. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no reservations accepted. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply and plan to pack out all trash. The site is accessible via Highway 77 west of Malta, following posted signs.
