Markleeville Campground is a small, intimate campground located alongside Markleeville Creek in the town of Markleeville, California, at an elevation of 5,500 feet. The campground features 9 campsites shaded by Jeffrey pines and cottonwood trees, creating a peaceful, forested setting in the Eastern Sierra.
This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. Sites are suitable for tent camping and small RVs or trailers up to 24 feet in length. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker. The campground provides vault toilets and garbage collection service.
The campground's location in Markleeville places campers within walking distance of the small mountain town, while providing access to nearby recreational opportunities including fishing, hiking, and exploring the Carson River drainage. Note that there is currently no potable water available at the campground, so visitors must bring their own water supply. A California campfire permit is required.
Directions
From Carson City or Minden, Nevada: Take Highway 88 approximately 14 miles to the junction with Highway 4/89 at Woodfords, California. Turn left on Highway 4/89 and proceed for approximately six miles to the Markleeville Campground entrance on the north side of the highway, approximately 1/2 mile past the town of Markleeville.
