* WHAT...Snow. Snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches above 7000 feet. At Lake Tahoe level, 3 to 6 inches, with 6 to 12 inches along and west of Highway 89. Wind gusts up to 35 mph, with gusts reaching 75 mph along the Sierra crest. Wave heights 1 to 3 feet on Lake Tahoe. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area. * WHEN...From 10 PM Monday to 4 PM PST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, as well as the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

About

Markleeville Campground is a small, intimate campground located alongside Markleeville Creek in the town of Markleeville, California, at an elevation of 5,500 feet. The campground features 9 campsites shaded by Jeffrey pines and cottonwood trees, creating a peaceful, forested setting in the Eastern Sierra. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. Sites are suitable for tent camping and small RVs or trailers up to 24 feet in length. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker. The campground provides vault toilets and garbage collection service. The campground's location in Markleeville places campers within walking distance of the small mountain town, while providing access to nearby recreational opportunities including fishing, hiking, and exploring the Carson River drainage. Note that there is currently no potable water available at the campground, so visitors must bring their own water supply. A California campfire permit is required.

Directions

From Carson City or Minden, Nevada: Take Highway 88 approximately 14 miles to the junction with Highway 4/89 at Woodfords, California. Turn left on Highway 4/89 and proceed for approximately six miles to the Markleeville Campground entrance on the north side of the highway, approximately 1/2 mile past the town of Markleeville.
