About
Hidden in Hot Springs Valley on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, Hot Springs Campground at Grover Hot Springs State Park provides year-round camping opportunities in a pristine alpine setting at 5,900 feet elevation. The campground features two seasonal configurations: a full summer campground with 76 family sites accessible from mid-May through mid-September, and a smaller winter camping area with 25 sites located near the park entrance from October through spring. The summer campground accommodates RVs up to 27 feet for motorhomes and 24 feet for trailers, with hot showers available via token system, flush toilets, and drinking water. Winter camping allows smaller rigs up to 18 feet and offers flush toilets, water faucets, and basic amenities but no showers. All sites include metal bear-proof food lockers (required for storing all food and scented items), fire pits, and picnic tables. Hot Springs Creek flows through the park, and hiking trails lead from the campground into Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The park's famous hot springs pools are a short distance from the campground, currently operating Fridays through Sundays from 9:30am to 5pm with reservations required. Trails range from easy meadow strolls to moderate hikes to waterfalls and more strenuous treks to Burnside Lake. The alpine environment brings variable weather year-round, from major winter snowstorms to summer thunderstorms, making proper preparation essential.
