Centerville Flat Campground
Open year-round as weather and conditions allow. No reservations required; arrive and camp in existing dispersed spots. California campfire permit required.
About
Centerville Flat Dispersed Campground sits at the intersection of California Highway 4 and Wolf Creek Road, approximately 2.5 miles from Markleeville in Alpine County. As a dispersed camping area within Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, it provides a primitive camping experience with no designated sites or fees. The area can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs in existing dispersed spots. Amenities are limited to vault toilets and horse corrals. There is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring their own supply. A California campfire permit is required for any open flames. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. The location serves as a base for various recreational activities including horseback riding, river and stream fishing, road cycling, and winter activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling when conditions allow.
Directions
From Markleeville, travel south/east on CA-89, then continue onto CA-4. Continue 2.5 miles and the site will be on your left.
