About
Crystal Springs Campground offers a tranquil camping experience in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, tucked along the West Fork Carson River just off Highway 88 near Woodfords, California. At 6,010 feet elevation, the campground provides 19 shaded sites beneath Jeffrey and lodgepole pines. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-resistant food storage locker.
The campground is well-suited for tents and small RVs under 24 feet. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and garbage service. Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. Black bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is mandatory.
The surrounding area offers excellent recreational opportunities including fishing in the Carson River, hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, and wildlife viewing. A free California campfire permit from CalFire is required for campfires, barbecues, and portable stove use.
