Crystal Springs Campground is a peaceful retreat in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, situated at 6,010 feet elevation along the West Fork Carson River near Woodfords, California. This small, rustic campground features 19 single-family campsites shaded by Jeffrey and lodgepole pines, providing a quiet setting for campers seeking a natural forest experience.
Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and food storage locker. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and garbage service. Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. The facility is designed for tents and small RVs (maximum 24 feet in length), making it ideal for those who prefer a more intimate camping experience.
The area offers excellent opportunities for fishing in the West Fork Carson River, hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, and wildlife viewing. The campground's location just off Highway 88 makes it a convenient base for exploring Carson Pass and the surrounding Carson Valley region. A California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for all campfire, barbecue, and portable stove use.
Directions
From Highway 395 in Minden, Nevada, take Highway 88 approximately 15 miles. About 1/2 mile past the Highway 4/89 turnoff in Woodfords, California, turn left at the Crystal Springs Campground sign onto Crystal Springs Road. The campground entrance is approximately 1/2 mile on the south side of the road.
