Main Campground at Little Missouri State Park sits in the heart of western North Dakota's dramatic Badlands landscape. The park encompasses over 6,000 acres of rugged terrain carved by the Little Missouri River, featuring layered rock formations in striking reds, browns, and grays. The campground offers 28 modern sites with electrical hookups and 3 primitive tent sites, plus group shelter options for larger parties. The park is particularly popular among equestrian enthusiasts, with 83 horse corrals, a round pen, and designated horse trails throughout the property. Hikers can explore over 40 miles of trails offering panoramic views of the picturesque badlands. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and a pay shower house serving the campground. An RV dump station is available for self-contained units. The campground operates seasonally from spring through October, closing November 1 for winter. Reservations can be made up to 95 days in advance through the North Dakota Parks reservation system online or by phone.
