Canyon View Campground sits within Little Missouri State Park, a quiet oasis in western North Dakota's badlands region. The park encompasses over 6,000 acres of rugged terrain along the Little Missouri River near its confluence with Lake Sakakawea. Visitors experience breathtaking views of waterways rolling through the colorful badlands landscape, with numerous wildlife species including mule deer, coyote, fox, bobcat, and golden eagle. The campground offers 28 modern sites with electrical hookups and 3 primitive sites, plus group shelter camping options. As one of North Dakota's designated horse parks, it features 81 corrals, a round pen, and extensive equestrian amenities. Over 40 miles of trails wind through the park and surrounding badlands, open to both hiking and horseback riding. The park provides pay showers, vault toilets, RV dump station, and three picnic shelters available for rent. This is an ideal destination for those seeking to unplug and explore North Dakota's backcountry. The remote location offers seclusion and scenic beauty, with nearby attractions including Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Unit), Lake Sakakawea, and the Killdeer Mountains. Fishing is available in the Little Missouri River for channel catfish, goldeyes, and sauger.

Directions

Canyon View Campground is accessible via a narrow, unpaved gravel road. Due to low-hanging branches and tight turnarounds, it is not recommended for RVs over 28 feet in length. Travelers should exercise caution when navigating the access road.
