Winnie Campground is remotely located on the west side of Lake Winnibigoshish in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. The 35 campsites are surrounded by a scenic forest of mature red and white pine, with some sites offering views of the lake. This is a rustic, peaceful campground that attracts visitors seeking quality fishing, boating, and natural scenery. Lake Winnibigoshish, commonly called Lake Winnie, spans 67,000 acres and 141 miles of shoreline, making it one of Minnesota's premier fisheries for walleye, perch, and trophy muskie. A boat ramp and harbor are located adjacent to the campground for easy lake access. Hiking and biking trails meander around the lake and surrounding forest. Black bears are active in the area. Campers must keep coolers and other bear attractants locked in hard-sided vehicles or campers when unattended, including overnight. Outside firewood is prohibited to prevent invasive pest spread; obtain firewood locally. The town of Cass Lake is 25 miles west, offering restaurants, grocery stores, and other services.

Directions

From Cass Lake, take Highway 2 east 6 miles. Turn north on County Road 10 and drive 2 miles to County Road 91. Turn right onto County Road 91 and continue 3.2 miles to Forest Road 2171. Drive 6 miles northeast on Forest Road 2171 to Forest Road 2168, then 4 miles south to the campground.
