About

Lory State Park, located in the foothills northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, provides a true backcountry camping experience with six primitive hike-in sites. Each site requires a minimum two-mile hike to access, making this campground unsuitable for vehicle-based camping. The park encompasses 2,574 acres with over 28 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The backcountry sites offer picnic tables and level areas for tents, but campers must be fully self-sufficient. There is no potable water, restrooms, or tent pads at the sites. Campfires are prohibited throughout the backcountry; only small camp stoves are permitted for cooking. Each site accommodates up to six people. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through cpwshop.com or by calling 1-800-244-5613. During the off-season (Tuesday after Labor Day through Friday before Memorial Day), sites are only reservable on Friday and Saturday nights.
