WHERE...Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties WHEN...400 PM Wednesday July 01 to 400 PM Thursday July 02 IMPACTS...Action Day for Multiple Pollutants is now in effect for the Front Range Urban Corridor. Elevated levels of Multiple Pollutants will remain possible in the northern Front Range region through Thursday afternoon. Concentrations of both ozone and fine particulates may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category at times on Wednesday and Thursday. Continued hot and sunny weather conditions may allow ozone concentrations to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Tuesday and Wednesday. The transport of wildfire smoke may increase particle pollution levels, reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category, or worse, at times. About
Stove Prairie Campground is located 26 miles northwest of Fort Collins along the Cache la Poudre River in Roosevelt National Forest. The setting varies from dense forest to open meadow, surrounded by steep mountains, with the campground nestled among ponderosa pine and aspen trees on the riverbank. The Cache la Poudre was Colorado's first designated National Wild and Scenic River. The campground has nine single-family sites, including four walk-in tent sites. Each site features a 12-by-15 foot tent pad, fire grate with grill, picnic table, and bear locker. Parking spurs range from 30 to 55 feet; driving or parking off-road is not permitted. Accessible vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are provided. The area is popular for whitewater rafting and fishing for brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. Nearby trails include the Mt. McConnel Trail, William R. Kreutzer National Recreation Trail, and Young Gulch Trail for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Directions
From Fort Collins, drive 10 miles north on US Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Colorado Highway 14 (Poudre Canyon) and travel 16 miles. The campground is on the north side of the road.
