Air Quality Alert issued July 2 at 1:52AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for Ground Level Ozone, from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening. An Air Quality Alert day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed levels that are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. Air is unhealthy for sensitive children and adults, such as those with asthma, lung or heart disease, and older adults. Sensitive children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor activity. Loraine Campground at Harold Parker State Forest offers a forested camping experience remarkably close to the Boston metropolitan area. Located just 20 miles north of the city in Andover, the campground provides 91 sites spread across stands of hardwood, hemlock, and white pine. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring with pedestal grill, and an individual water spigot. Eleven sites feature 20/30/50 AMP electrical hookups for RV campers. The campground facilities include comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers, with stations 3 and 4 being ADA accessible. An RV dump station is available for campers. Beyond the campground, Harold Parker State Forest encompasses over 3,000 acres with more than 35 miles of multi-use trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Multiple ponds offer fishing and canoeing opportunities. Reservations are required; walk-in camping is not permitted. Check-in runs from 1 PM to 9 PM, with checkout by 11 AM. Pets are allowed with a maximum of four per site, must remain leashed, and require proof of current rabies vaccination at check-in. Firewood must be purchased on site and cannot be brought in. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM.
Directions
From I-93, take Exit 41 and head east on Route 125 toward Andover. Follow Route 125 for approximately 3 miles, then turn right onto Harold Parker Road. Continue to Jenkins Road and turn left to reach the campground entrance at 133 Jenkins Road, Andover, MA.
