Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle, Massachusetts is primarily a day-use recreation area centered around an active dairy farm. The reservable Hart Barn is a converted dairy facility providing sheltered indoor space with 10 wooden picnic tables, electricity, and lights. The barn accommodates groups up to 50 people and is intended for gatherings and events rather than overnight camping in the traditional sense. Tents are not allowed and RVs cannot be accommodated. The 1,000-acre park offers over 20 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and equestrian use. The working dairy farm features free guided tours on weekends from May through October, and a seasonal ice cream stand operates April through October. Notable historical features include Native American sites and 17th-century cellar holes from English settlers. Park amenities include composting toilets and vault toilets near the Hart Barn, with flush restrooms available at the main parking lot approximately one mile away. Pets are welcome on leash throughout the park but prohibited from buildings. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. Park hours are sunrise to sunset.
