Special Weather Statement issued March 6 at 9:32PM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA

March 6th, 9:32 PM — 7:15 AM

Areas of drizzle with pockets of freezing drizzle will continue into early Saturday morning. The bulk of the freezing drizzle will be in the high terrain where temperatures were at or below freezing and untreated roads maybe icy. However...even some of the lower elevations had temperatures around 32 degrees which may lead to some patchy black ice. Plan on allowing extra travel time and be especially careful on bridges and overpasses. This is particularly true in the high terrain where temperatures were a few degrees below freezing. Pedestrians should also be careful in parking lots and walkways which may have patches of black ice. Temperatures will warm above freezing by mid to late Saturday morning alleviating any issues.

Special Weather Statement issued March 6 at 12:28PM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA

March 6th, 12:28 PM — 1:00 AM

Spotty freezing drizzle is possible through tonight north of the Mass Pike and in the higher elevations. Be alert for icy spots on untreated roads. Across the rest of southern New England, including areas near the coast, temperatures will fall to around freezing later tonight into early Saturday morning. Leftover moisture may produce icy spots on untreated roads in these areas as well. Plan on allowing extra travel time and be especially careful on bridges and overpasses. Temperatures will warm above freezing Saturday morning.

About

Great Brook Farm State Park encompasses over 1,000 acres in Carlisle and has been a working farm for centuries. The park was established in 1967 and is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The property features an active dairy farm with Holstein cows that continues the agricultural tradition spanning over 60 years, with free farm tours offered on weekends from May through October. The park offers more than 20 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, dog walking, and equestrian use. The trail network winds through forests and meadows, passing notable Native American sacred sites and 17th-century cellar holes from early English colonial settlements. The Hart Barn, a converted dairy barn located at 1018 Lowell Street, provides a sheltered space with wooden picnic tables and is available for group reservations through ReserveAmerica. This is a day-use facility only. The park is open from dawn to dusk year-round with a parking fee. An ice cream stand operates seasonally from April through October. Public restrooms are available at the main parking lot on North Road, and portable toilets are located at the Hart Barn site.
