About

Ashland State Park encompasses 472 acres surrounding the historic 157-acre Ashland Reservoir, which was originally constructed in 1895 and decommissioned as a water supply in 1947. The park offers a popular swimming beach, a boat ramp accommodating both motorized and non-motorized watercraft, and a network of trails for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. The park features wheelchair-accessible restrooms, picnic grounds, and a reservable pavilion that accommodates approximately 50 people. The pavilion includes a 3x3' grill and picnic tables under a shelter, though it lacks water, electricity, and restroom facilities at the site itself. The park is staffed seasonally and operates from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM during summer months. Ashland State Park is a day-use facility only with no overnight camping permitted. On busy summer weekends and holidays, the park may reach capacity and temporarily close gates to incoming visitors. The historic dam and spillway were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
