About
Long Lake Campground is located within the Northern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest, a 30,000-acre preserve shaped by glacial activity that created the distinctive kettle and moraine topography southeastern Wisconsin is known for. The campground occupies the eastern shore of Long Lake, a 423-acre impoundment of the East Branch of the Milwaukee River with clear water reaching depths of 47 feet. The facility offers 200 campsites spread through a wooded setting, with a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Standard amenities include fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Comfort stations provide flush toilets and showers, with vault toilets also available throughout. A sanitary dump station and recycling/garbage station serve registered campers. Several ADA-accessible sites are available. Recreation options extend beyond camping: two swimming beaches provide lake access, and the lake supports fishing for panfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. Motor boats are permitted. The Lake-to-Lake Bike Trail offers a 6.6-mile paved route to Mauthe Lake Recreation Area. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail passes through the forest, and the Henry S. Reuss Ice Age Visitor Center provides interpretive programs about the region's glacial geology.
Directions
