About
High Cliff Group State Park Campground is part of High Cliff State Park, Wisconsin's only state-owned recreational area on Lake Winnebago. The group campground offers eight dedicated group campsites situated along the dramatic limestone cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment. The park encompasses 1,187 acres of diverse landscapes including cliff environments, wet-mesic forests, and over a mile of Lake Winnebago shoreline. The group camping area provides vault toilet facilities and is typically open from April through mid-October, coinciding with the main camping season. During this time, registered campers have access to a sanitary dump station and recycling facilities. The campground is managed by on-site hosts during the peak season. Pets are permitted in the group campground but must be leashed. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, swimming, boating, and fishing on Lake Winnebago. Historic features include Native American effigy mounds dating from 1000 to 1500 A.D. and remnants of lime kiln operations that functioned from 1855 to 1956. Winter visitors can explore the park via snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails, though typical group camping operations are seasonal.
