About

Long Canyon campground sits at the northern end of Guernsey State Park where the reservoir splits into eastern and western arms, offering a more remote camping experience compared to the southern campgrounds. The campground features non-electric campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire grills, along with a comfort station, playground near the picnic shelter, and boat ramp access. The area showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of the Civilian Conservation Corps, with hand-hewn timber structures, stone work, and an extensive trail system that provides scenic overlooks of the reservoir and surrounding landscape. Guernsey State Park is recognized for having some of the finest examples of CCC construction in the Rocky Mountain region. Approximately 14 miles of restored CCC trails offer moderately demanding hikes with spectacular views. The park is surrounded by significant Oregon Trail history, including the famous wagon ruts and Register Cliff located just south of the town of Guernsey. With 2,400 acres of reservoir surface, the park provides excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming at designated beaches, and wildlife viewing year-round.
