About

Locust Lake State Park sits in Pennsylvania's anthracite coal region, where second-growth forest has reclaimed former mining land. The 52-acre lake anchors the park, and the campground encircles it with 282 sites. The north shore is tent-only and generally quieter; the south shore accommodates tents and trailers up to 40 feet. Fourteen full-hookup sites offer water, sewer, and electric, while another 71 sites have electric only. Walk-to sites provide a more secluded experience. Modern restrooms and shower houses serve both sides of the lake, and a sanitary dump station is located on the south shore. Every site includes a fire ring and picnic table. A camp store near the fishermen's launch stocks basics, firewood, and bait, and also rents boats. The swimming beach opens seasonally, and miles of trails weave through the surrounding forest. Reservations are handled through Pennsylvania State Parks' ReserveAmerica system and open 11 months in advance. Pets are allowed at designated sites for a small fee. The campground operates seasonally from late March through mid-October.
