About

Frances Slocum State Park, located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, offers a well-equipped 100-site campground set within a 1,035-acre park featuring a scenic 165-acre horseshoe-shaped lake. The camping area includes 85 tent or trailer sites, some offering electric hookups, and 15 walk-in tent sites that provide additional seclusion for those seeking a more primitive experience. The campground operates from mid-April through mid-October and provides modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a sanitary dump station. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Some sites are ADA accessible, and pets are permitted on designated sites. Beyond camping, the park offers excellent recreational opportunities including swimming in a seasonal pool, boating on the lake, hiking trails, and mountain biking. The Patrick J. Solano Environmental Education Center features exhibits on indigenous peoples and local ecology, making this an educational destination as well as a recreational one.
