Liz Butte Cabin is a remote backcountry rental facility situated in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in north-central Idaho. Located along the historic Lolo Motorway (Road 500), the cabin provides visitors with a rustic getaway in a pristine wilderness setting. The area is known for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty, offering solitude far from developed areas. The cabin serves as an excellent base for outdoor recreation. The nearby Liz Butte Trail is closed to motorized use, making it particularly appealing for mountain bikers seeking quiet backcountry trails. Directions

From U.S. Highway 12, locate Forest Service Road (FSR) 107 at mile marker 139.7, approximately 25 miles west of Powell, Idaho. Follow FSR 107 north for 12 miles to Saddle Camp Junction with FSR 500/FSR 587. Take a hard left onto FSR 500 heading west and continue for 4 miles to the 12 Mile Saddle trailhead of Trail 20. Follow Trail 20, a multi-use motorized trail, for 9.5 miles from 12 Mile Saddle to the pack bridge crossing at Weitas Creek. Continue on the single-track portion of Trail 20 for the remaining 1.5 miles to the cabin. Note: The last 1.5 miles are closed to ATV/UTV traffic; visitors must hike or ride this segment.
