About

Little Pool Hiker-Biker Campsite is one of many primitive campsites spaced every 5-7 miles along the 184.5-mile C&O Canal towpath. Located at mile marker 120.4 in Washington County near Hancock, Maryland, it serves long-distance hikers and cyclists traveling the historic canal route between Georgetown and Cumberland. The campsite includes a chemical toilet, picnic table, firepit with grill, and access to non-potable well water. Water is available from mid-April through mid-November but requires filtering, chemical treatment, or boiling before consumption. Fires are permitted only in the provided fire ring or portable grills positioned off the ground; coals must be extinguished and removed from the park. There is no fee or reservation required. Camping operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a one-night maximum stay per site. Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am. Pets must remain leashed at all times. Like all C&O Canal sites, this is a trash-free park; campers must pack out everything they bring in.
