As one of approximately 31 hiker-biker campsites spaced roughly every 5-7 miles along the 184.5-mile towpath, it serves as a convenient overnight stop for through-hikers, cyclists, and equestrians exploring the historic canal corridor. The campsite offers basic amenities including a chemical toilet available year-round, a picnic table, and a grill. Water is available seasonally but is non-potable and must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before use. Water service is turned off from mid-November through mid-April. The site is located in close proximity to the Potomac River and may be subject to flooding after heavy rain. No fees or reservations are required, and the campsite operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum stay of one night per site per trip. Fires are restricted to the provided grill or to portable grills positioned off the ground. Firewood may be collected from dead material on the ground for use at the campground only, but cannot be brought into the park or removed from the campground.
