About

Lines Youth Group Camp is situated within Lake Talquin State Forest's Lines Tract in Gadsden County, approximately 31 miles west of Tallahassee. This primitive group campsite serves youth groups seeking an authentic wilderness experience in Florida's diverse natural communities. The site is accessible either by hiking or biking 2 miles from the main trailhead, or by vehicle using service roads with a gate code provided upon reservation. The campsite accommodates up to 20 people and includes basic amenities: a picnic table and fire ring with grill. No water or electricity is available at the campsite itself, so campers must pack in all necessary supplies including drinking water. A vault restroom and picnic pavilion are located at the trailhead, 2 miles from the campsite. The primitive setting provides an excellent opportunity for groups to experience backcountry camping while remaining accessible. The Lines Tract features a 10-mile off-road bicycle trail system designed for beginner to intermediate cyclists. The main trail loop is approximately 6.5 miles and takes about an hour at regular speed, while the complete 10-mile loop with spur trails takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail traverses diverse terrain including pine plantations and sandhill communities in the northern section, transitioning to hardwood and floodplain forests along Lake Talquin's shoreline. The area also supports hiking, trail running, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and photography.
